Venetion Plaster consists of plaster mixed with crushed marble and dust that is applied to walls with trowels in thin, multiple layers that are then polished to create a smooth surface with an illusion of depth and texture. It is used to create a polished, rock-hard and marble-like finish. Most experts prefer to call Venetion plaster a technique as opposed to a product.

Venetion plaster is especially useful on surfaces where marble panels cannot be installed easily. This includes curved surfaces that would be too expensive to have carved from real marble or where the weight of the product would not be tolerated. It can be applied over plasterboard, cement sheet and solid walls.

Venetion plaster can also be coloured or tinted if a colour that does not exist naturally is wanted. It is a technique that provides more than colour, it is a decorative finish that combines texture, colour and light to create something unique.

Unlike paint, Venetion Plaster is a long term solution that does not need to be reapplied over and over. It is a product that can last a lifetime and has a natural ability to repel mould and mildew making it perfect for both interior and exterior use.  Unlike cement based products, Venetion plaster can stand the test of time with no cracking and needing very little care and maintenance.

Venetion Plaster is suited for many interior uses, such as splashbacks, walls and wet areas such as bathrooms, showers and laundries. It is a type of plaster that performs extremely well in wet areas by allowing any water that is absorbed into the plaster to quickly evaporate. It aptly got its name from its performance in the wet areas of Italy as it could resist the moisture and rising damp ascending from the canals of Venice, which would usually destroy cement based and acrylic plasters.

Venetion plaster is widely used in Italy but its appeal has spread through North America and is now a popular finish worldwide. In Australia the look has been made popular by urban cafes and restaurants and is now a popular finish in architecturally designed homes and houses looking for a modern makeover.
